Dorian Godon: “Working for Ben O’Connor has elevated us”
« It’s not a victory but I’m happy with the result. This is my second podium in the UCI WorldTour. The day was long but not very difficult. We were active at the start of the stage to get into the breakaway, but it was complicated with the headwind.
The last kilometers were winding so I wanted to join in the final sprint. I have no regrets; I couldn’t have done better.
My sensations are getting better day by day. Yesterday when we worked to defend Ben (O’Connor)’s leader’s jersey, we rode really well.
The last two stages suit me and I hope to do even better than today. Taking a win in the UCI WorldTour is my goal this year.
We will also do everything to ensure that Ben gets the best possible place in the general classification on Sunday evening.»Dorian
Ahead of the last two stages, Ben O’Connor is in 6th place in the general classification of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, 18” behind the leader.
E3 Saxo Bank Classic: Oliver Naesen 21st
Oliver Naesen finished 21st in the E3 Saxo Bank Classic.
“It was impossible to follow the top fifteen of the day today. There are days when the legs just do not respond. We will have to raise our heads and show another face on Sunday, in Gent-Wevelgem. The squad is good and it’s important to bounce back for the rest of the Flanders campaign,” said Julien Jurdie, sporting director of the AG2R CITROËN TEAM.
