Team BikeExchange women back in business at Lotto Belgium Tour – Team BikeExchange

After two weeks with no racing, the Team BikeExchange women’s squad return to action on Tuesday as they tackle the four-day Lotto Belgium Tour.

Italian fast finisher Arianna Fidanza will be looking to build on her strong fourth place finish last time out at Dwars door de Westhoek, while Teniel Campbell continues to grow in confidence after being in the mix at Dwars door het Hagelaad.

Jess Allen, Janneke Ensing and Moniek Tenniglo will provide valuable experience on Belgian roads, with Urška Žigart also lining up for her first Lotto Belgium Tour.

The four-day stage race begins with a short 4.4km prologue before a flat opening road stage. The following day will see the peloton tackle 5 laps of a 27.5km circuit that features two cobbled sectors and two bergs per lap, with the final stage taking in the famous Flanders climbs of the Bosberg and the Muur van Geraardsbergen.

Team BikeExchange at Lotto Belgium Tour:
Jess Allen (AUS)
Teniel Campbell (TTO)
Janneke Ensing (NED)
Arianna Fidanza (ITA)
Moniek Tenniglo (NED)
Urska Zigart (SLO)

Arianna Fidanza:
“I’m feeling good and I have confidence for the Lotto Belgium Tour after some good results in the sprints in Spain and in the last race in Belgium at Dwars door de Westhoek.

“I have had a look at the stages and I like the look of them, I think some can be good for me, and I’m looking forward to racing again and testing myself.”

Martin Vestby (Sport Director):
“I think we can see with the Lotto Belgium Tour this year that there’s going to be some hard stages compared to previous editions. For us, we will mainly go for stages and for sure the last stage will be the real GC stage, so going into the last stage we will have to see who is feeling ok and how we are sitting on the GC.

But our main focus will be stages and will give opportunities and look for opportunities for all riders. The stages are quite hard to predict in one way, I think there will be a lot of aggressive racing and you have to be really switched on in these kinds of races and be in position from the start.

The first stage is most likely to be a sprint stage and we will back Arianna for that one, she showed some good sprinting in Belgium a couple of weeks ago and that will be a good stage for her. I think for the next stages, the race will decide who will take the opportunities as well as the legs.”
