After being postponed in February, the 2021 edition of Ruta del Sol will take place next week, with Team BikeExchange looking to make the most of the new date bringing in a diverse squad, hungry to make the most of the additional racing opportunity in May.
The team ranges from wiser and older experienced riders in the form of Jack Bauer, Brent Bookwalter and Luke Durbridge, through to young up and coming talent with the likes of Robert Stannard and Alex Konychev.
The mixed team will hunt down stage victories throughout the course of the five-day race with the line-up also including Ethiopian Tsgabu Grmay and Norwegian powerhouse Amund Grøndahl Jansen.

“I am looking forward to racing again after a small break after the busy classics period and it is good to have this race in May ahead of some bigger goals later in the season.
We have a strong team with a mixture of riders, and I think I can have a good go at a stage win looking at the some of the stages.
It should be good weather with it being in May and I think all the team is just ready to get back racing so it should be a good week. I felt good with good legs at the start of the season so I hope I can take another step forward next week and get a good result.”
Laurenzo Lapage – Sport Director
“The goal for us is to try for stage wins in this race, it is unusual to have this race in May in the calendar and we have a good team to try for this.
Robert Stannard showed in the Classics he has good form so he will be one of the protected riders for stage wins but it is a race where we will try, and everybody will get a chance.
It is a good race for us to help with our build up and preparation for the next races to come.”
