DRONE HOPPER ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI: UN GRANDE CEPEDA CHIUDE 2° E MIGLIOR GIOVANE AL GIRO DI SICILIA

🇬🇧

DRONE HOPPER ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI: A GREAT CEPEDA CLOSES 2ND AND BEST YOUNG RIDER AT THE GIRO DI SICILIA

He is a great Jefferson Cepeda (photo www.sirotti.it) who finished in 2nd place the Giro di Sicilia, which ended today with the climb to Etna. The Ecuadorian rider of the Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli was among the best on the final climb and the last to give in to a wild Damiano Caruso (Italian national team) who won the stage and the general classification. Cepeda, who in the last two kilometers had also distanced Vincenzo Nibali, finished third (at 10 ”) of the stage after returning to him on the final straight of Meintjes (Intermarchè Wanty). Fourth Nibali, then Rosa, Elissonde, Conci, Albanese. In the overall standings, Cepeda is 29” behind Caruso, third is Meintjes. The great day in Sicily for Cepeda ended with the conquest of the white jersey of the best young rider.
«It was a very hard stage. The last 3 kilometers were really difficult. I had also tried them in training recently, but Caruso was really strong. I’m really happy. Now I will return home for a few days for the last training sessions in view of the Giro» the 23 year old Cepeda said at the end of the prizegiving.
Satisfaction of course also on the race car of the Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli. Giovanni Ellena, who led the team with Alessandro Spezialetti, says: «The guys were very good. Focusing on Cepeda for the Giro di Sicilia proved to be the right choice. This last stage, on which the general classification would have been built, was ideal for its characteristics».
Meanwhile, in Turkey Eduardo Sepulveda is always in command of the overall standing when two fractions are missing at the end of the race. Even today, well supported by his teammates, the Argentine of the Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli defended the lead in the general classification for the second consecutive day.
On the moment of the Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli, the team manager Gianni Savio explains: «We finished the Giro di Sicilia, proud of the evidence provided by the team and in particular by the excellent Jefferson Cepeda. Now the program of approaching the Giro d’Italia continues with the participation in the Tour of the Alps and the Giro della Grecia».

Giro di Sicilia. Vincenzo Nibali takes second on Stage 2 – Astana

Giro di Sicilia. Vincenzo Nibali takes second on Stage 2

In a fast uphill finish in Caltanissetta, which crowned Stage 2 of the Giro di Sicilia, the leader of Astana Qazaqstan Team Vincenzo Nibali took a strong second place right behind the winner Damiano Caruso.

“I am quite happy with the way the stage was going on and, in general, with my result even if it is just a second place and not a victory. It was clear that Damiano was the favorite today as he is fast in this kind of short uphill. I feel like my form is coming after a big break and an altitude training camp, so it looks pretty good. I want to congratulate Damiano Caruso on this victory, it is good that another Sicilian rider won today. We are good friends, and I am happy for him. Well, it was a nice day spent with my team in a good way and I am looking forward to the next days here at the Giro di Sicilia”, – said Vincenzo Nibali.

Astana Qazaqstan Team riders worked well all together during the whole stage, keeping Vincenzo Nibali in front and protecting him from any trouble. In the end of the day thanks to teammates Vincenzo was able to get a good position in front of the group on the last uphill. Staying on the wheel of Damiano Caruso, Nibali was trying to sprint for a victory, but missed just a little and finished second.

“I think we can be happy with the way our team spent this day and with the result of Vincenzo Nibali. We knew that Caruso was the favorite for this kind of finish, and I am happy that Vincenzo was able to stay close to him, taking a really good second place. After a training camp on altitude, he still needs some days for acclimatization, but today’s stage showed that he is on the right way. We still have two days in this race with the queen stage to Etna on Friday. Let’s see what is going to happen there”, – said Giuseppe Martinelli.

Unfortunately, two riders of Astana Qazaqstan Team Alexandre Vinokurov and Juan Carlos Lopez were involved in a crash, but both riders escaped with some minor injuries.

After Stage 2 of the race Vincenzo Nibali is sitting on the second place in the General Classification, just 4 seconds down to Damiano Caruso.

UNA BELLA ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC AL GIRO DI SICILIA: RAVANELLI 2° NELL’ULTIMA TAPPA. E RUMAC 3° IN CROAZIA

ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC: RESTREPO FA 3° AL SICILIA, RUMAC È 4° IN CROAZIA

??

ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC: RESTREPO IS 3rd IN SICILY, RUMAC IS 4th IN CROATIA

Another day as a protagonist for Androni Giocattoli Sidermec which does excellent things at the Giro di Sicilia as well as at the Cro Race.
In Sicily in the stage with the treacherous arrival in Caronia (the start from Termini Imerese, the arrival after 180 kilometers), a very good Jhonatan Restrepo (photo Bettiniphoto) who, on the day of the victory of the timeless Valverde, obtains a prestigious third place, behind the Spaniard and Covi, but ahead of the other big names in the RCS race, starting with Velasco and Bardet. More than good the performance of the whole team that places four other riders in the first 22 of the order of arrival with Bais just out of the ten (12th), Cepeda, Ravanelli and Munoz all good to keep in the final. With only the Sant’Agata di Militello-Mascali (180 kilometers) missing at the end of the race, Restrepo is now third in the overall standings, 9” behind the leader Valverde and 2″ behind Covi. The Androni Giocattoli Sidermec at the moment also leads the team classification.
In Croatia another positive day with the fourth place of Josip Rumac in the sprint of the third stage (Primosten-Makarska of 167 kilometers) won by the Belgian Menten. Tomorrow in Croatia fourth stage with the 197 km Zadar-Crikvenica.
