DRONE HOPPER ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI: SUPER SEPULVEDA IN TURKEY
A great Eduardo Sepulveda won the fourth stage of the Tour of Turkey today, the 146-kilometer İzmir-Manisa with uphill finish. The Argentine rider of the Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli arrived all alone at the finish line after having attacked from the group of the best with less than 4.5 kilometers to go. Sepulveda, who had already made a name for himself in Turkey in recent years, preceded Bevin (Israel Premier Tech), Vanhoucke (Lotto Soudal), Nairo Quintana (Arkea Samsic) and Vine (Alpecin Fenix), all 15” behind. After the fourth of the eight stages, the Argentine also leads the general classification, with 14″on Bevin and 25″ on Vine, and that of climbers.
On the stage comes the comment of the sporting director Daniele Righi who with Leonardo Canciani is leading the team in Turkey: «We had set our game on Eduardo. His teammates were very good at taking him to the foot of the climb with the best. Sepulveda, then, was good to keep his pace without responding to the attacks and when the opportunity arose to seize the moment to shoot. Having obtained a small advantage, he was super in managing it to the finish».
Sepulveda for his part is obviously radiant: «I’m too happy. It’s been a long time since my last victory, it took this day. Today the team was top. The guys gave me a great hand, they’ve always been with me. Before the ascent Grosu did an excellent job. In the final, some teams had a strong pace and I was a bit at the limit, but I managed well. When he leveled off a little I left and then I went to the block until the end. It’s gone» explained the 30-year-old South American who already boasted many placings in Turkey and in his career had achieved a couple of successes in France in 2015 and one in Argentina in 2016.
From Turkey to Sicily, where the RCS race proposed its second stage. In Caltanissetta Damiano Caruso won over Vincenzo Nibali and Domenico Pozzovivo. Nice ninth place for Jefferson Cepeda with the best in the treacherous final. Also good Daniel Munoz, 16th, only a few seconds behind the first group.
On the victory in Turkey, the fourth in the season for Drone Hopper Androni Giocattoli, and the excellent day overall for the team, the general manager Gianni Savio expresses himself as follows: «An important day for our team, with the splendid victory of Eduardo Sepulveda in Turkey and Jefferson Cepeda’s top-10 finish in Sicily. We are getting closer to the Giro d’Italia in the best possible way and I want to praise all the team members for the professionalism shown in every race».
