Chasing ‘De Ronde’ – Human Powered Health

The Tour of Flanders gives a whole new meaning to the term “bike fans.” One of the first things you notice is how “hard” the baying roadside crowd go, cheering all the riders over every last inch of granite cobblestone as they spill their triple-cooked frites and high-percentage beer in excitement.

A national obsession, those who take on Ronde Van Vlaanderen are rockstars in the eyes of the Belgian public as they enter the Gladiatorial ring of this epic monuments parcours.

A race quite unlike any other, for some, the 158.6km course was a question of survival, but for those few who could make the race their own, this unpredictable race was a chance to weave their names into the tapestry of the Flemish icon

The 2022 edition was a truly historic and memorable affair for Human Powered Health. From race-animating attacks to cresting the legendary Koppenberg in the front group, the team showed what they are all about in key sections of ‘Flanders’ Most Beautiful’.

Relive the action and bask in the atmosphere on Belgium’s party day with our gallery of images from a day when the team tackled more than just the eleven climbs on the race’s route.

Dwars door Vlaanderen (March 30) / Ronde van Vlaanderen (April 3)

Stan Dewulf : « Be there to help the team »

« The Ronde van Vlaanderen is a very special race. The atmosphere at the start in Antwerp is exceptional. My first two participations (2020 and 2021) were without spectators on the course, so I cannot wait to see what it will be like with everyone there. I love racing the classics and we have a team to do something special this year. We will put everything in place to equal if not improve on the third place Greg (Van Avermaet) scored last year. I really appreciate racing in the team, and I am here to help the collective. I hope to continue to make progress to reach the top level in the coming years. I do not know if I will reach my ultimate potential, but that’s why I’m cycling. »Stan

The number

Greg van Avermaet will participate for the fifteenth time in the Ronde van Vlaanderen. He has scored nine top-10s and four podiums (2nd in 2014 and 2017, 3rd in 2015 and 2021). “The Ronde van Vlaanderen is always one of the big goals of my season. I like this race and I have already taken some good results. I hope I can do even better,” says Greg van Avermaet.
