The rider of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec won the 150 kilometer race that took place yesterday on the Yahuarcocha circuit (10 laps) with the final climb of the Alto de Aloburo. Precisely in the last steep kilometers Cepeda trailed Byron Guama by 20 “and Segundo Navarrete by 33”, reaching the finish line all alone. The Chalequito, as Cepeda is nicknamed in Ecuador, was back in the race after the Giro d’Italia. «This victory is exciting. It will be a pleasure to wear this tricolor jersey on European roads. I had already looked for this shirt two years ago, now it has arrived» said after the award ceremony the Ecuadorian, who turned 23 years on June 16.
On the victory of Cepeda also come the words of the team manager of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec Gianni Savio: «Congratulations to Jefferson Cepeda for having prepared the national championship with great determination after being forced to retire from the Giro d’Italia due to tendonitis».
