Tour de Romandie (April 26 – May 1)

Cyril Dessel: “Welded around Ben O’Connor”

« We are approaching the Tour de Romandie with ambition, united around our leader Ben O’Connor who has shown us some great things since the start of the season.
Considering his fourth place in the Tour de France 2022, he is definitely able to compete with the best and this week will give him a great chance to continue to refine his condition and to feel comfortable in his role.
The Tour de Romandie offers a unique configuration, at the crossroads between the riders who will be at the Giro and those who are “at the end of the cycle” after the start of the season. It’s a short event, with a prologue and a time trial in which Ben did well last year.
He will be well supported with riders of the caliber of Geoffrey Bouchard, Larry Warbasse, Nans Peters and Bob Jungels, capable of accompanying him into the mountains.
We are very sorry that Clément Champoussin is injured since he would certainly have been at ease in the hills as well. »Cyril

La Flèche Wallonne (20 april) – Liège-Bastogne-Liège (24 april)

Julien Jurdie : « Get on the podium

« Our sporting goals for the Ardennes are quite simple: with the physical condition that Benoît Cosnefroy has recently displayed, we can hope to get on the podium and why not on the top step. For the past few weeks, he has shown that he is very strong and he will be supported by a committed team to position him in the best possible conditions. It is a complicated task but it is the right year to shine. He is capable of climbing onto the Flèche Wallonne podium again and he can confirm the good sensations he had at la Doyenne two years ago.
Mentally and physically, Benoît is equipped to succeed in these races. »Julien

Tour of the Alps (April 18-22)

Nicolas Prodhomme : « Seize every opportunity »

“The start of the season was not what I expected with my crash in training in January and then Covid-19 in February. I was able to complete a few rounds of the Coupe de France to get back on my feet, then the Itzulia Basque Country last week did me a lot of good. There was a high level.
I have very good memories of the Tour des Alpes last year having been in a great breakaway as well as during the last stage being in contact with the favorites with Geoffrey (Bouchard). It is a race that I really enjoy for its profile and the beauty of the course.
This year, we are fielding a competitive team with Geoffrey Bouchard, Clément Champoussin and Félix Gall. Having three cards capable of playing leading roles will allow us to take risks and seize all opportunities.”Nicolas

Classic Grand Besançon Doubs (April 15) – Tour du Jura Cycliste (April 16)

Nans Peters : « The goal is to win »

“I was lucky enough to get back on my bike quickly after the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya (he retired during the second stage after having a crash that required stitches). Since March 28, I have been training at altitude at Etna to prepare in good conditions for the next objectives, which are the Tour de Romandie and then the Giro d’Italia. The Classic Grand Besançon Doubs and the Tour du Jura Cycliste will allow me to refine my condition from training and see where I am in terms of sensations.
We are fielding a very good team on both days and the objective will be simple: to win.
These are races that correspond to our qualities and we have the riders to influence the race. It is up to us to perform well collectively.”Nans

Paris-Roubaix (April 17) – Equipe cycliste AG2R CITROËN TEAM

Vincent Lavenu: “Make our mark”

“Paris-Roubaix is the last of the cobbled classics. We hope it will be favorable to us because so far we have not lived up to our hopes despite Greg van Avermaet’s third place and Oliver Naesen’s fourth in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
We have the desire, and we have talented riders. We intend to make our mark on the occasion because our classics group has great potential. Like many teams, several of our riders have fallen ill in recent weeks and have struggled to recover, like Oliver Naesen.
Paris-Roubaix remains a race like no other where you need to be successful.
Benoît Cosnefroy’s excellent second place at the Amstel Gold Race showed us the way.”Vincent

De Brabantse Pijl (April 13)

Larry Warbasse : « Support Benoît Cosnefroy as much as possible »

“The Amstel Gold Race perfectly launched the Ardennes Classics campaign for the AG2R CITROËN TEAM. We were all happy with Benoît Cosnefroy’s second place despite the events after the finish (he was initially announced as the winner). There are still three classics where we can expect great things, starting with the Flèche Brabançonne. It’s a tough race where only those with the best legs have a chance to go for the win. With what he has already shown, Benoît Cosnefroy will be one of the favorites. Our role will be to accompany him and position him as well as possible. He must be fresh when the strongest start attacking, and then it’s up to him. I can’t wait to see what he can do. For my part, I am happy with my form which is improving day by day. It is a pleasure to work for the team in these conditions.”Larry

Amstel Gold Race (April 10)

Mikaël Chérel : « I know the roads by heart »

« This is my tenth participation in the Amstel Gold Race and I am still happy to take part. This year, the race was placed between the Tour of Flanders (April 3) and Paris-Roubaix (April 17). So, the level will be even higher than usual. It is launching two weeks of Ardennes classics with La Flèche Brabançonne (April 13), La Flèche Wallonne (April 20) and Liège-Bastogne-Liège (April 24) where my objective will be to support our leaders as well as possible, in particular Benoît Cosnefroy. The Amstel Gold Race is a race that suits him perfectly, even if I am nostalgic for the years with the arrival at the top of the Cauberg. It would have been even better for him then. I will make sure to position him in the best place possible throughout the race. These are very small roads and with the experience I have gained in the past years, I know them by heart.»Mikaël

Gran Premio Miguel Indurain (April 2) / Itzulia Basque Country (April 4-9)

Paul Lapeira : « Difficult races »

« I am very satisfied with my start to the season (especially 2nd in the sixth stage of the UAE Tour and 4th in the Classic Loire-Atlantique). In addition to seeing myself progress, things are going very well in the team, I have been well integrated. I have never raced in Spain, but I know they are tough races with a lot of strong competition. In any case, you have to go through it so you can continue to progress. We will bring a competitive team including Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Clément Champoussin. After having had my chance in the last rounds of the Coupe de France, I will enjoy returning to playing a team role. This will be beneficial to me for future rounds of the Coupe de France and in particular Paris-Camembert, which will take place soon and is close to my heart since I’m Norman.»Paul

Dwars door Vlaanderen (March 30) / Ronde van Vlaanderen (April 3)

Stan Dewulf : « Be there to help the team »

« The Ronde van Vlaanderen is a very special race. The atmosphere at the start in Antwerp is exceptional. My first two participations (2020 and 2021) were without spectators on the course, so I cannot wait to see what it will be like with everyone there. I love racing the classics and we have a team to do something special this year. We will put everything in place to equal if not improve on the third place Greg (Van Avermaet) scored last year. I really appreciate racing in the team, and I am here to help the collective. I hope to continue to make progress to reach the top level in the coming years. I do not know if I will reach my ultimate potential, but that’s why I’m cycling. »Stan
