ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC: UMBA AND BAIS EXCELLENT PROTAGONISTS AT THE TOUR ALSACE

The French stage race (Uci 2.2) brought to the fore the talent of the 18-year-old Colombian Umba, first friday on the climb of La Planche de Belles Filles (Michaël Gilson – DirectVelo) in the third stage and always a protagonist. On Saturday, in a stage with many climbs, Umba finished fifth, remaining with the best. In the overall standings, despite two crashes in the last stage of yesterday, the Colombian finished in fourth place at 48” from the Spanish Parra, the winner of Alsace 2021. Umbra finished second in the youth ranking.
Good performance in France in general for the team that also proposed Bisolti and Bais to attack. The latter was the protagonist on several occasions, eventually winning the combactivity jersey  and finishing in second place in that of the mountains.

ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC: UMBA WINS AT THE ALSACE TOUR ON THE FINISH LINE OF PLANCHE DES BELLES FILLES

Success arrives at the Alsace Tour for Androni Giocattoli Sidermec. In France, the very young Santiago Umba is the master of the prestigious finish line of La Planche des Belles Filles, the arrival of the Tour de France on more than one occasion in recent seasons.
On the final climb of the third stage (starting from Vesoul and its 143 kilometers challenging overall) of the French race, the 18-year-old Colombian of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec first tried to stretch on the leading bunch less than two kilometers from the conclusion, but without too much luck. Then in the last kilometer the true show of the South American talent who all got out of the way, going to catch an attacker and detaching the squad of the best. Behind Umba closed the French Huby, the Swiss Reichenbach, the Spanish Berrade and the Belgian Van Eetvelt. Umbra is also the leader of the youth ranking. First in the ranking of combativeness, however, the other Androni Giocattoli Sidermec Mattia Bais, protagonist with other riders in the long breakaway that animated the whole stage up to the final stages.
On Umba’s victory comes the comment of team manager Gianni Savio: «We have great confidence in Santiago and it is no coincidence that we had defined a four-year contract with him. We didn’t take him to the Giro d’Italia because he was too young and still in the training phase. We will make him grow gradually and we are sure that he will be able to offer great emotions to all the fans».
For the Androni Giocattoli Sidermec, led in France by the sporting director Gian Paolo Cheula, success of Umba is the sixth of the season. For Umba it is the first victory as a professional.
The fourth stage Ribeauvillé-Lac Blanc (161,3 kilometers) is scheduled for tomorrow at the Tour Alsace.

ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI SIDERMEC: THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE TOUR ALSACE

The Tour Alsace, the 2.2 stage race of the UCI international calendar, will start tomorrow, ending on 25 July, and will also see the Androni Giocattoli Sidermec competing.
In France, where there are five stages scheduled including tomorrow’s time trial prologue, Mattia Bais, Alessandro Bisolti, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda, Simone Ravanelli, Filippo Tagliani and Santiago Umba will race. Sports director Gian Paolo Cheula.
